June 9 - 13, International Seminar & Workshop in Cuenca, Ecuador.
ReAct Latin America in collaboration with PAHO and the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Cuenca and the Pan-American Health Organisation (PAHO), summoned America and other continents to in an International Workshop and Seminar treating antibiotic resistance, infectious diseases, solidarity and the Ecossystems.

May 19 - 24, ReAct at the 61th WHA in Geneva.
Following up on our activities in 2007, ReAct was attending the World Health Assembly (WHA) again this year. Relationships with friends and partners from the World Health Organisation (WHO), Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) and other health organisations were strengthened, and new contacts were made with the World Health Professions Alliance (WHPA) and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), to mention some.

March 26, New subtopic on Antibiotic Resistance launched on SciDevNet
With the support of ReAct, a new subtopic on Antibiotic Resistance was launched on the 26th of March on the SciDevNet website. The antibiotic resistance subtopic includes feature articles, opinion pieces, and briefs on policy solutions to resistance, all with an emphasis in the developing world.

Consumer organisations and networks, globally, what do they know about antibiotic resistance and are they at all interested to work within this field? This is what a student researcher, performing a master thesis at ReAct has strived to find out by intreviewing numerous consumer organisations. Read more about her findings.

March 2007, ReAct Latin America established!
Everything is now settled with the agreement between ReAct and the University of Cuenca. The cooperation is initiated with the aim to build a ReAct network in Latin America ( RLA ) to raise awareness and to stimulate social and political action on antibiotic resistance and the effective prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. The ReAct network in Latin America will be established as a base, building on existing networks working with health and social issues and will stimulate an ongoing process of activities, education and research to achieve a comprehensive concept of health in the region. Arturo Quizhpe Peralta, will be the director of the project.


25 January 2007, ReAct fact sheet, for support of a new strong, RUM, Rational Use of Medicines resolution.
On the 25th of January ReAct distributed 2 fact sheets to the WHO Executive Board meeting delegates to support a strong RUM resolution and reporting back of the antimicrobial resistance resolution WHA58.27 at WHA in Geneva, May 2007.

Brussels, 7-9 June 2006, European Commission DG Research & ReAct arranged a workshop on International collaboration on antibiotic resistance, specifically the burden of resistance.

ReAct had Activities in relation to the conference and displayed its first poster in the Network corner of ESCMID.

December 2005, The Antibiotic Innovation Study: Expert Voices on a Critical Need In a report published on the 12th of December 2005, public health and industry experts conclude that urgent action is needed to tackle the lack of research and development into new antibiotics.
