Malaysia-Indonesia-Philippines-Thailand Study Visit on Antibiotic Smart Use

At the community level, ReAct has organized a study trip of participants working at community health centres in Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines to visit a community health centre in Saraburi, Thailand, which has an established Antibiotic Smart Use Project. The purpose of the visit is a sharing of experiences and cross learning with a view to develop a regional SEA ASU Program.

Thailand-Singapore Study Visit on Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP)

April 27-28
As part of the WHD 2011 campaign, ReAct-SEA has arranged for three physicians and three pharmacists from five teaching/public hospitals in Thailand to visit three public hospitals in Singapore, which have implemented the ASP. The Thai physicians and pharmacists are in various stages of implementing an ASP in their respective hospitals. The purpose of the visit is a sharing of experiences and cross learning with a view to develop a regional SEA ASP.

WHD 2011 Seminar at Universiti Sains Malaysia

April 4-9
The Discipline Of Social and Administrative Pharmacy (DSAP), School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and the USM Wellness Centre organized a five-day event to mark WHD 2011.

This included a seminar on infectious diseases and an exhibition on ABR, for the university’s staff and students. Two keynote presentations were made, first on the antimicrobial resistance situation in Malaysia (6 April, by Dr. Mohamed Azmi Ahmad Hassali, DSAP) and, second, "Infectious Diseases: Current Scenario in Malaysia” (Dr. Umarazina Abdula Kader, Penang State Health Department).
