The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) has been a vital partner and funder of ReAct since its inception in 2005, consistently championing the global fight against antibiotic resistance.
From October 22nd to 25th, SIDA representatives visited ReAct Africa to witness firsthand the organization’s impactful work on the ground. The interactive week included visits to local communities where ReAct is actively raising awareness, advocating for equitable access to life-saving antibiotics and Levy Mwanawasa, a hospital facility where ReAct is supporting Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) initiatives.
This visit reflects SIDA’s unwavering commitment to addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) on a global scale. Their continued support ensures that organizations like ReAct can drive meaningful change, empowering communities and healthcare systems to safeguard antibiotics for future generations.
Social media influencers have a unique ability to shape public opinion and behaviors. When equipped with accurate knowledge, they can play a pivotal role in combating antimicrobial resistance by educating, inspiring action, and supporting global health initiatives.
In response to this, the Zambia National Public Health Institute through the Antimicrobial Resistance Coordinating Committee (AMRCC) in collaboration with ReAct Africa conducted an AMR orientation meeting for social media influencers on 13th November in Chilanga, Zambia.
The orientation aimed to highlight key aspects of AMR, its impact on public health, and the role influencers can play such as raising awareness, simplifying the complex topic and promoting responsible behaviours.
The Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI), through its Antimicrobial Resistance Coordinating Committee (AMRCC) in collaboration with ReAct, recently held a landmark meeting with 15 members of Parliamentary representing Committees on Health and Agriculture. The meeting aimed to strengthen Zambia’s response to the growing threat of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), building on the outcomes of the United Nations High-Level Meeting on AMR held in New York in September.
