As part of ReAct Africa’s Maarifa Kids Project (formerly Alforja), and in collaboration with Belleza Talent Agency, a vibrant AMR Awareness Fun Fair was held to introduce children to the world of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) through fun, interactive, and play-based activities.

The one-day event held on 22nd August 2025 was attended by 30 children aged 5–13 years and created a safe and exciting space for them to learn how everyday actions like handwashing and responsible medicine use can help prevent infections and protect community health.
The Maarifa Kids Project continues to show that early engagement is key to sustainable behavior change. By embedding AMR awareness in community and educational settings, children become active participants in protecting health, not just for themselves, but for their families and future generations.
Learning Through Play
The Fun Fair featured a variety of creative and engaging activities designed to make AMR concepts relatable and easy to understand:
- Aerobics and Health Fitness Session – promoting physical wellness and the role of exercise in staying healthy.
- Handwashing Station – a practical demonstration of proper hygiene and infection prevention.
- AMR Quiz – an interactive trivia game to test and reinforce key AMR concepts.
- DIY Germ Models – a creative arts station where children visualized different germs and learned how resistance develops.
Key Outcomes

By the end of the session, children demonstrated a solid grasp of basic AMR and hygiene concepts, including:
- Differentiating between good and bad germs.
- Understanding how germs spread and how resistance can emerge.
- Applying correct handwashing techniques as a simple but powerful preventive strategy.
