The African Youth Position Statement on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) reflects the position and key demands of the youth in Africa, for the United Nations General Assembly High-level Meeting on AMR to be held in September 2024. This Position Statement was coordinated by the African Youth AMR Alliance Task Force (AYARA_TF), a consortium representing over 600,000 youth voices across Africa.
The African Youth Position Statement shares an insight on Africa’s priorities in the fight against AMR and serves as a clarion call to the United Nations (UN) Member States to accelerate equitable efforts towards mitigating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). AMR disproportionately impacts communities in the African continent which also faces a large burden of infectious diseases compared to other parts of the world.
