ReAct Africa and South Centre will co-host the 2024 regional AMR annual conference from 9th - 11th July, under the theme; Global Accountability for AMR response: Investing in priorities for Africa.
The conference will be hosted in partnership with International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS), Global Antibiotic Research and Development Partnership (GARDP), AMR Policy Accelerator and support from The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the Fleming Fund, Wellcome Trust and the Ministry of Health Zambia through Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI).

For the last ten years, the ReAct Africa annual conference has immensely contributed to building and strengthening capacities of numerous African countries in the development and implementation of AMR National Action Plans (NAPs) as it has provided a platform for cross-learning and cross-fertilization at the same time catalysing action in the region.

Over the years, the platform has presented a base from which African AMR stakeholders have been able to share experiences, learnings and gain better understanding of AMR and how best to address this public health issue through their respective AMR National Action Plans (NAPs). This has in turn resulted in catalytic goal-setting and defined actions across-sectors in different countries, guided by progressive country reporting in each subsequent annual conferences. The conference proceedings have been guided by carefully curated themes, aimed at addressing relevant issues around AMR in the region and at a global level over the years. As a result, the forum has witnessed exponential growth in attendance from 11 participants from 8 countries in 2015 to 156 participants from 38 countries in 2023.
