Elements of a national action plan

Which areas should be included in a national action plan?

This section gives suggestions of different policy areas that could be covered under a national action plan on antibiotic resistance, and provides support for their implementation. This list gives a broad overview, however, is by no means exhaustive. Every country is unique and the content of a national action plan must be based on the context-specific needs.

Each element discusses options for action across different sectors – addressing human, animal, and environmental perspectives when appropriate. Multi-sectorial action is necessary to limit the negative consequences of antibiotic use and resistance.
