The book, “The evolving threat of antimicrobial resistance – Options for action”, launched by WHO on March 8, is the result of a collaboration between WHO and more than 50 international experts in the field of antimicrobial resistance where ReAct contributed with working group leaders and main authors of two of the chapters.

ReAct participated in the launch event in Geneva on March 8 with a video presentation where Executive Director Otto Cars gave a background to the network ReAct and the book collaboration project.

“I am very happy to see the book launched here today. The timing is very good too, not only due to the urgency of the problem, but also considering the ambitious WHO global plan now under way which I believe could truly be informed by the content of this book” says Otto Cars.

The book showcases examples of actions taken to slow down drug resistance and preserve the ability of medicine to effectively treat many infectious diseases, building on the recommendations in the 2001 WHO Global Strategy for Containment of Antimicrobial Resistance.
