This year ReAct Africa and South Centre will be hosting the annual conference as a hybrid event under the theme: "Africa’s response to Antimicrobial Resistance: Accelerating One Health National Action Plans implementation for the next 5 years." The event will take place Monday 25th July to Wednesday 27th July.
As with previous conferences, this forum will employ a One Health approach to convene high-level policymakers from human health, animal health and environmental antimicrobial resistance experts, researchers and academicians, members of societies, civil society representatives from different African countries as well as intergovernmental agencies.
Representatives from the Quadripartite (WHO, FAO, OIE and UNEP), Africa CDC, government, non-government organizations, and academia among others will be present.

Conference Objectives
- To bring together AMR experts, civil society organizations, academia, government ministries, research institutions, intergovernmental institutions to discuss regional challenges and approaches to addressing antimicrobial resistance and the next steps in review and implementation of National Action Plans on AMR.
- To assess existing National Action Plans implementation progress and ongoing challenges within the region and tease out the lessons learned.
- To discuss key activities, steps that will result in a catalytic action for the next 5 years ensuring no country is left behind.
- To provide way forward for countries on how best to implement National Action Plans on AMR via a One Health approach.
- Promote and share evidence-based interventions such as implementation research and behavioral approaches in addressing antimicrobial resistance within and across sectors.
