Engaging medical colleges in tackling AMR

ReAct Asia Pacific has launched a collaboration for tackling Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) along with the Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education & Research (MIMER) Medical College, Pune, in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

The new collaboration aims to raise awareness among faculty members about the silent pandemic of AMR and emphasizing community engagement in AMR-sensitive issues.

It also involves the launch of Phase 1 of “Student Engagement Initiative for Antimicrobial Resistance’.

On 3rd July Dr. Sudhi Nath, Dr. Salman Khan, Dr. Hyfa Ali, and Dr. Ijyaa Singh of ReAct Asia Pacific led an interactive session with clinical heads, senior faculty, including the Principal Dr. Sandhya Kulkarni and Dr. Nagoba, Deputy Dean of MIMSR Latur on functioning of antimicrobial stewardship team in the medical College and hospital. They also shared insights from their work across India, Africa, and other regions

On 4th July a session on AMR was organised with students from the medical college, recognizing the pivotal role of youth as agents of change,. The initiative underscores the need for involving more young minds like these to drive significant change in combating antibiotic resistance.
