From the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting (UNGA HLM) in New York to the Inter-ministerial Meeting on AMR in Jeddah, the message has been clear: the world can no longer afford to delay decisive action on antimicrobial resistance (AMR). As a major threat to human health, sustainable development, and economic stability, AMR demands urgent and coordinated responses.

Nowhere is this more pressing than in the Asia-Pacific region, where systemic vulnerabilities, high infectious disease burdens, and inequities in access to health services magnify the risks. Recognizing the need to shift from political commitments to concrete solutions, a diverse coalition of stakeholders will convene 11-13 September in Jakarta.

The Asia-Pacific AMR Conference 2025, co-hosted by the Ministry of Health, Indonesia and ReAct Asia Pacific, will be held from 11–13 September 2025. Building on the momentum of last year’s inaugural gathering, this second regional convening will serve as a platform to transform shared priorities into tangible actions.

Conference objectives include:

  • Facilitate the translation of global commitments into national and regional action by aligning AMR priorities across Asia-Pacific countries with the outcomes of the UNGA HLM 2024.
  • Strengthen multi-sectoral collaboration by operationalizing the One Health approach across human, animal, and environmental health sectors.
  • Showcase country-level progress and innovations in implementing National Action Plans (NAPs), highlighting both success stories and implementation challenges.
  • Promote meaningful engagement of civil society, youth, and communities in AMR advocacy, social accountability, and behavior change interventions.
  • Identify sustainable mechanisms to expand access to diagnostics, antimicrobials, and antimicrobial stewardship interventions.
  • Build regional consensus and partnerships for long-term AMR governance, monitoring, and cross-border cooperation.

During the conference-days we will bring together a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including government representatives, international organizations, global health and development partners, researchers, civil society groups, private sector leaders, and youth networks. By facilitating regional knowledge sharing and collaboration, the gathering seeks not only to chart a roadmap for effective action but also to inspire sustained momentum in the fight against AMR.

With a collective determination to turn dialogue into measurable impact, the Asia-Pacific AMR Conference 2025 will strengthen the region’s leadership in the global response to antimicrobial resistance – transforming declarations into action for healthier, more resilient communities.
