Today the SafeCare Magazine recognized Dr. Otto Cars, founder of ReAct, as the SafeCare Person of the year.
This annual award recognizes an individual who has contributed significantly towards improving patient safety and quality of healthcare across the globe.
Dr. Yisrael M. Safeek, publisher of SafeCare Magazine says:
“We are incredibly impressed with what he has accomplished in the area of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). For over 20 years, he has been spreading the word about the risks of AMR around the world. He and the independent international network ReAct – Action on Antibiotic Resistance that he founded has disseminated evidenced-based information driving the issue of AMR toward political decisions.”
The selection committee was particularly impressed with the work Dr. Cars has done through ReAct. This includes the network’s focus on achieving profound change in awareness and action to manage the interacting social, political, ecological, and technical forces that drives resistant infections and the rapid spread of antibiotic resistance within and between communities and countries.
”I am very honoured and happy to get this recognition from SafeCare Magazine, but what makes me particularly proud is the value attributed to ReAct’s longstanding and continued work for a world free from fear of untreatable infections”, says Dr. Cars.
